A productivity study conducted by Wearwell Matting has revealed a strong correlation between the use of anti-fatigue mats and productivity said A Plus Warehouse, a specialty provider of rubber mats and anti-fatigue matting.
The 12-month study showed that the installation of anti fatigue matting resulted in an estimated 2.2% increase in productivity. Half of the 2.2% increase in productivity was due to lower absenteeism rates, while the other half was linked to decreased down time due to lost time injuries.
"We have always known that anti-fatigue matting offers employees more comfort on the job, but these are conclusive results that anti fatigue mats actually increase productivity," said A Plus Warehouse President Ed Stairman. "When a person stands on a concrete slab all day, invariably, the person will get uncomfortable, and their mind may wander off the job and onto their discomfort. This opens the door to slower work and industrial accidents. Simply using anti fatigue rubber mats allows workers to stand at their station and experience much less discomfort, making them more productive."
Anti fatigue mats should be used wherever workers need to stand for an extended period of time. Cashiers, production line workers working at production tables or conveyors and restaurant preparation workers can all benefit from this matting.
A Plus Warehouse also provides mats that can be used in work areas that have work benches and production tables; entrance matting for protecting entrance flooring from dirt and preventing slippery wet floors that can lead to injury; and rubber mats and rubber matting that can be used in food service operations, gyms, ice skating rinks and for ESD electronics use.
