Efficiency is a priority when it comes to material handling. No conveyor user wants conveyor carryback to delay and cost them money.
What is Conveyor Carryback?
Carryback is the small amount that builds up on a conveyor system. This “carries back” the material until it falls off under the conveyor. Over time, this can cause damage to the belt. Carryback also is also estimated to be responsible for up to three percent of the total bulk material your company produces. There is also a health and safety concern with carryback such as fugitive dust.
How do I prevent Carryback?
Customers have a few options for prevention.
1) Belt Clean System
Installing a belt cleaning system with a belt scraper removes that excess material. It doesn’t eliminate carryback, but it will reduce it by up to 80 percent.
2) Conveyor Shape
Consider a differently shaped conveyor. For example, our Heavy Duty Dry Use Aggregate Conveyor has a unique shape. This unique shape keeps the product where it is meant to be. The picture below shows an up-close picture of the heavy-duty dry-use aggregate conveyor.
