How do I Pick a Dock Lift?
Consider whether you need a top of ground lift or pit mounted recessed lift. A top of ground lift can be mounted on any concrete slab. It is important to note that this unit will sink into black tops during the summer months. With this style there is no additional costs for creating a pit nor will you have to worry about drainage or potential issues with underground utilities.
A pit mounted otherwise known as recessed dock lift, has the advantage that they are flush mounted to surrounding surfaces meaning they will not be an obstacle to drive over, as they align perfectly. For a top of ground lift to work around this, a ramp is needed to transition loads from the platform to the ground. A recessed dock can load at either dock height or ground height.
Dock Lift Pricing
A top of ground dock lift will have a higher cost – but you do not have to account for the costs of creating a pit. Any flat concrete slab will work. Whereas a pit mounted lift will be slightly cheaper but you will have to factor in the costs of the pit.
Permanent or Temporary Mounted Dock Lifts
If you are looking for a temporary dock lift then you will most likely want a top of ground lift. Let’s say you want to move this lift, you can easily unbolt it without a pit left behind to fill. Our dock lifts are bolted to the ground so you could do the same with a recessed lift. If you want your lift to be permanent installing a pit is a great idea.
