Strip Doors from A Plus Warehouse

February 24, 2009  |  Comments

In situations where businesses need to provide access for forklifts or other large material handling equipment, but still wish to keep inclement weather out, strip doors are the most economical solution says A Plus Warehouse, a leading nationwide dealer of material handling equipment.

“Our plastic and vinyl strip doors can be configured by altering overlap percentage ordered so forklift trucks can be accommodated as easily as foot traffic yet still keep heat in and cold out or vice versa,” said Ed Stairman, president of A Plus Warehouse. Open type metal shelving is the basic and most economical shelving design for general purpose use. Backs and sides are open with the exception of side and rear stability braces. There are additional components to consider when ordering storage shelving however. A Plus Warehouse sells ledge tops, counter tops, counter fronts, base strips, label holders, bin fronts, sliding doors and footplates. Adding a swinging door to an industrial shelf unit produces a perfectly fine warehouse storage cabinet.

In choosing a strip door, overlap is very important. 33% overlap for foot traffic and small temperature differentials may make sense, where 100% might be desired for forklift access, higher temperature differentials and windy conditions. Strip doors can be wall or header mounted. A header mounted unit fits within a door jam with universal galvanized hardware (or at times aluminum). Wall mounted has the strips mounted above the door.

“You can also customize the thickness of your strip doors by your application,” said Stairman. “You can choose strip thickness of .180 all the way to .250 inches. A .250 inch thick strip door is too much for a person to walk through, but a forklift may do fine. We can even design a retractable strip door, so the entire door can be slid out of the way if there is occasional bursts of activity that require full access to your dock.”

A Plus Warehouse is pleased to sell strong brands of strip doors including Aleco, Singer Safety and Vestil so customers are sure to get the right product for their application. A Plus Warehouse strip doors experts can help with custom applications including strip doors used in conjunction with Mars air curtains for extreme conditions.

A Plus Warehouse carries all the essential material handling equipment including work benches, storage cabinets, plastic bins of all types, metal shelving, loading dock equipment, anti fatigue matting, packaging supplies and platform trucks.
